Also known as: SeedFi
SeedFi is a fintech company that offered credit-builder loans and savings-linked lending products designed to help consumers simultaneously build credit and grow emergency savings. SeedFi was acquired by Intuit's Credit Karma platform, and its products may have been integrated into or replaced by Credit Karma's own offerings. Consumers interested in SeedFi products should verify current availability directly through Credit Karma or the SeedFi website.
SeedFi's original product approach was distinctive. Instead of a traditional loan where you receive money and pay it back, SeedFi combined saving and credit building in a single product. Customers made regular fixed payments, a portion of which was reported to the credit bureaus as loan payments, and a portion of which was set aside in a savings account in the customer's name. At the end of the plan, the customer received the accumulated savings.
This structure meant that customers built a credit history through regular on-time payments while also accumulating emergency savings they did not have before. The product was designed for consumers with limited or no credit history who needed both a credit-building tool and a path to savings.
Credit-builder products generally do not provide you with money upfront in the way a conventional loan does. They are savings and credit-building mechanisms, not sources of emergency cash. If you need funds immediately, a credit-builder product is not the right solution.
If you are interested in credit building combined with savings, compare current Credit Karma and SeedFi offerings against credit-builder loans from local credit unions, which often offer similar products at low or no cost to members. Review all current terms and verify product availability before applying.
